Through the Arts, Crossroads Folkloric Arts Associations shall hold seminars featuring dance, music, lectures from scholars, songs and holistic exposure to cultural and philosophical traditions as expressed throughout the African diaspora. Through lectures and performances, there will be varied presentations that will highlight these traditions to the general public. The purpose of these seminars is to raise awareness, lesson community tensions and promote positive images of African based traditions. The public will be educated to the cultural richness offered from folkloric customs within the African heritage. With heightened awareness, our goals are to raise the self esteem of Chicago youths, thus enhancing the organization’s goal to contribute to Chicago’s rich and culturally diverse landscape.
